What Adds Portability to a Portable Gas Generator?
Granted, this one is big and heavy. Without attachments it wouldn’t be that maneuverable. So how can we call it a portable gas generator?
Because of the size and weight of this professional grade equipment, there are handles and wheels to enable it to be portable. Gas generator classes that are movable are those that are not fixed like standby generators are. Those are more permanent on a specific location. If you want to be able to move it around and generate power in various locations, or if your location just isn’t big enough or used enough to warrant a standby generator, then a portable gas generator is the way to go. You just have to determine the necessary capacity to generate power for all of your appliances, fixtures and devices.
GN5200 Portable Gas Generator Specs
The ECHO Bear Cat GN 5200 is capable of producing a maximum of 4200 watts continuous output. It can handle spikes of 5200 watts maximum, so that larger items can surge with they start up. If the GN 5200 runs low on oil, it will automatically shut down to protect itself. This unit is not capable of being connected in parallel with another unit like the IG200 or IG3500E Quiet Inverter Generators can.
While operating at 50% load, the GN5200 portable gas generator can run for 9.5 hours. They run at 74 db, measured at a distance of 23 feet away.
You can even get lifting handles for this machine, as seen below:
Caution With Portable Generators
Never run a generator inside your house or any other enclosed area. Portable generators are designed to run outside where there is plenty of ventilation.
They can be used during a wide variety of weather temperatures, but should be protected from the elements when not in use to prevent shorting and rusting.
For additional safety, this generator can be grounded, but it’s not necessary because the Echo Bearcat GN5200 is already neutrally bonded to its frame.
When storing a portable gas generator for more than 30 days, it is highly recommended that you drain the fuel from the tank and run the carburetor dry. ECHO Bear Cat engines meet EPA regulations which are less tolerant of stale fuel. The use of a fuel stabilizer is highly recommended.
