What Oil Do Gas Powered String Trimmers Use?
First of all you must know if you have a two stroke or a four-stroke (four-cycle) trimmer engine. Four strokes have a separate compartment for oil, and you do NOT mix oil and gas into one container.
Two-stroke (two-cycle) engines require you to mix the oil with the gas in exact amounts so the oil acts as a lubricant for the crankcase.
Either engine will run very hot. The correct choice in oil is mandatory. Please read your model’s owner operator manual.
Four-stroke trimmers may take 10w30 or 20w50 or 0w30 grade synthetic motor oil. Find the right one for you particular machine.
